Saturday Program:

Intensive Basic Curriculum – Highly Interactive, Deeply Inspiring

At the Academy of Hellenic Paideia, our Saturday Program is where it all began. Born in 2010, this program was the first spark of what has now grown into a vibrant non-profit organization that proudly offers educational and cultural programs for all ages. Built with voluntary love, time, and dedication, our Academy stands today as a living testament to our unwavering devotion to Hellenic language, culture, and traditions.

Designed for students from 3K through 7th grade, the Saturday Program runs every week from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by an optional chess enrichment hour. Students rotate through engaging, 30-minute sessions led by passionate educators who bring each subject to life—including Greek language, mythology, music, crafts, traditional dance, geometry through art, and the ancient Greek martial art of Pankration.

At the heart of our curriculum is a deep commitment to critical thinking. Through meaningful discussions and reflective questioning, we guide our students using the Socratic method—encouraging them not just to answer, but to inquire, explore, and think deeply. This approach empowers them to become independent thinkers and articulate, thoughtful individuals.

Our language instruction goes beyond vocabulary and grammar. We delve into the roots of Greek words, especially those that have shaped the English language, helping students uncover their etymology, symbolism, and historical depth. This process reveals the beauty and richness of the Greek language, and helps students appreciate it not as a subject, but as a treasure worth mastering.

Every subject—whether it be mythology, music, or geometry—is intentionally crafted to foster curiosity, sharpen reasoning, and cultivate a lifelong love for learning. Students also prepare for meaningful presentations and performances, building confidence and pride as they share their knowledge and talents with their families and community.

We incorporate the timeless wisdom of the Delphic Maxims to help guide our students in becoming not only scholars, but also virtuous and thoughtful individuals. As part of our Greek language program, we also prepare students for the Ellinomatheia exams, offering them the opportunity to achieve recognized language proficiency.

And after all this vibrant exploration, students stay for one more hour to learn and play chess—enhancing their focus, memory, and strategic thinking in a fun, supportive setting.

Because we believe that true education begins when students want to learn, we invite families to join us for Saturday trial classes in April and May. These trial days allow children to explore the program, feel at home in our classrooms, and make the decision themselves—because their voice matters.

Our doors—and our hearts—are open to all who believe in the power of joyful, meaningful education rooted in heritage, inquiry, and love.
